Last week, OCCAM Project partners gathered in Lerwick, Shetland for two days of project discussions, taking stock of progress across the project and planning the next phase of work ahead of our 18-month milestone.
Holding the meeting in Shetland gave everyone the chance to discuss the work in the context of a working fishing and aquaculture community.
In Scotland, one strand of the work is focused on the earliest possible detection of harmful algal blooms that can affect shellfish in Scottish waters, helping farmers respond faster to a growing climate risk.
Beyond the meeting room, attendees also enjoyed some Shetland hospitality, sampling local music and fine Shetland produce along the way.
A valuable two days in Shetland, driving OCCAM’s mission forward! Thanks to Seafood Shetland for organising and hosting.
